Women encouraged to set business goals
Women in the informal sector have been encouraged to set up business goals and prioritise budgeting.
This came out during a session of the ‘In Her Own Voice Radio Program’ which was conducted by Women’s Institute for Leadership Development and aired on SkyzMetro FM on Wednesday 19 March 2021.
Making her presentation to radio listeners, MoB Capital Business Analyst Paula Phiri said there are a wide range of opportunities for informal traders which women in the informal sector should take advantage of.
“Saving plus financial discipline are very important traits for entrepreneurs and informal business owners. Women should prioritize saving in their various business endeavors. The pandemic may have disrupted budgeting and saving patterns but it is crucial for women to redeem themselves from the effects of the pandemic even by saving a dollar a day until they create their sustainable income,” said Phiri.
Phiri highlighted that women should “create their own table” and opportunities by working together and be tolerant of each other’s differences.
“This period also requires women in the business sector to wear their creativity boots on to enhance generation of ideas to fit the societal and environmental changes,” she said.
Phiri noted that to ensure sustainability of ideas, women in the informal sector should always be united.
