Robert Sinyoka Community pledge to help the vulnerable
Pumula Youth Leadership Forum (PYLF) held a resource mobilisation meeting with local leaders in Robert Sinyoka, recently. The meeting was held for a ward resident, Miss Mlalazi, who lost her home due to a whirlwind which blew away her roofing, nearly a month ago leaving her homeless and without shelter.

The meeting was conducted under the Pumula Food Relief Program that is known as UTHANDO initiative, where more than 80 families have benefited and continue to benefit monthly from food hampers distributed across Pumula Constituency.
“We are grateful for having remembered to take care of the vulnerable in the community as observed through the life of Miss Mlalazi,” said, Givemore Mangena, Pumula Youth Leadership Forum Organising Secretary.
Well-wishers and donors from in and around the community pledged resources in the form of food and finances to assist the woman at a time of her need.
HOCIC pledged to buy building material best suited for a two roomed apartment and currently a construction process of this structure is underway. Christian Faith Fellowship Church promised to include Miss Mlalazi on their list of people who benefit from the monthly food program.
Local leaders pledged to assist Miss Mlalazi with other necessities that may have not yet been donated.
“As the Ward Councillor, I will help our elder with river sand as well as pit sand,” said Bulawayo Ward 17 Councillor Sikhululekile Moyo. “The kindness that you have shown towards Miss Mlalazi is truly humbling and our hope is for her to have a comfortable home as a matter of urgency.”
Pumula Constituency Member of Parliament, Honourable Sichelesile Mahlangu pledged to donate two bags of cement while other residents pledged to render assistance through financial aid and providing food where possible.
Miss Mlalazi’s home is currently covered in a black sheet polythene plastic that has taken the place of her roof that was blown by the whirlwind. She expressed profound gratitude to Pumula Youth Leadership Forum (PYLF) for their effort in giving her decent accommodation and mobilizing people and organisations who provided food for her family.
The call to construct a house for Miss Mlalazi is currently an ongoing process as more support is being solicited in ensuring that she can have a comfortable home.
