The Public Opinion Space – #Women4TaxJustice

This Friday, the 13th of March 2020, Women’s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD), Centre for Innovation and Technology (CITE), Amakhosikazi Media, Bulawayo Vendors and Traders Association (BVTA) and Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) will be conducting The Public Opinion Space that will be held at the Zimbabwe Academy of Music (Next to Zimbabwe International Trade Fair) from 1300 hrs – 1600 hrs.

The event will enable women to deliberate on the adverse effects of taxation in Zimbabwe, under the theme: “Government Taxation and Its Effects On Women In Zimbabwe”.

Key note speakers will be inclusive of the following: Dr Khuphukile Mlambo, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Deputy Governor, Paula Phiri, a Business Analyst from MoB Capital, a representative from the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) and Jacqueline Ndlovu, an informal trader.

#Women4TaxJustice objectives:

  • To highlight tax justice as an integral part of the struggle for women’s rights and gender equality.
  • To influence tax policy reforms and practice to promote gender equality & women’s rights.
  • To bring together the tax justice and women’s rights organisations and their constituencies to take action for tax justice to finance women’s rights.
