YALI ‘beneficiaries’ in Focus

The ‘Woman Leader in Focus’ series of meetings featured two YALI alumni who shared their leadership lessons with aspiring leaders last week. The Woman leader in Focus series has a mandate of developing young women’s capacities in order to assist them reach their fullest potential in as far as leadership is concerned.

Despite emanating from different backgrounds, Miss Noma and Yolanda’s experiences are similar as they have had to go through unemployment in order for them to get to where they are. It was during a time of unemployment that they realized the potential they could explore.

“I graduated with a Law Degree but my specialty is more inclined towards public speaking,” said Miss Noma, founder of the Outspoken Consultancy. “My journey began with being a Mistress of Ceremony (MC) and since then I have never looked back.”

On a different twist, Yolanda is an individual who has been interested in fashion designing and she currently lives through this dream. Yolanda’s core business is based on designing bridal wear.

“I designed a dress that I wore to a wedding and the comments that I got from people inspired me to consider designing,” said Yolanda, a bridal wear designer. “I specialize on beading in most of the designs that I do, particularly the wedding gowns that I design. I get an opportunity to make brides look beautiful on their wedding day.”

The two presenters made emphasis on time management in being able to achieve anything that people set out to do. They also encouraged the crowd to do a bit of self-introspection before considering a business venture.

Nomalanga Ncube better known as Miss Noma and Yolanda Dube buttressed their presentations on the fundamental use of networking so as to develop one’s businesses. Woman Leader in Focus is a meeting that identifies a community leader who is working towards success. Her journey should be an inspiration to those around her. In the month of August 2017, Dr Thabo was featured as a Woman Leader in Focus as she is a qualified doctor who also works as a motivational speaker.
